The game's producers have given it the characteristic genre name Legendary RPG beginning with the PlayStation version, with the Full Voice Edition given the moniker Legendary RPG Embellished with Voices. A PlayStation Portable remake known as Tales of Phantasia Full Voice Edition followed in September 2006, featuring full voice acting during story scenes, which was later included with further enhancements as part of Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X in June 2010. it was later ported to a number of other platforms, including a Japan- exclusive version for the PlayStation in December 1998 and a Game Boy Advance version published by Namco in Japan in August 2003 and later published by Nintendo in North America and Europe in March 2006, which marked the first time the game was officially available in English. Originally released only in Japan in December 1995, it is the first title in the Tales series. And that’s what’s important.Tales of Phantasia is an action role-playing video game developed by Wolf Team and published by Namco for the Super Famicom. Sure, the AI’s dumber than a rock, and it’s annoying when you’re trying to fight a Harpy and you’re just standing there slashing at air, but it’s more fun than you’re likely to have from doing something else. A is to attack, B is to use a special technique, Y is to change your targeting, and X brings up the menu. It allows for a lot more strategy and movement than most games, but you really have to see it for yourself. I’ve frequently heard it referred to as sort of a fighting game, but that’s completely wrong. Describing the battle system is difficult. If you can’t tell, I like this game a lot. They’re the same folks who made Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile, and the same things that made those games badass are at work in this one: awesome graphics, and a kickass game to back it up, with a different and innovative combat system. This is one of the games developed by the god-company tri-Ace, back when they still worked for Namco and stuff. If you’re everybody else, and you know that gameplay is also important to a good RPG, well you’re going to like Tales of Phantasia. If you’re one of those lame kiddies who think that graphics make a good RPG, well you’re going to like Tales of Phantasia. The characters are great, the story is excellent, the graphics are superb, the controls and gameplay are both good and the music is fantastic, making for an overall very enjoyable and memorable game. This game also has a time travel theme to it, similar a bit to that of Chrono Trigger. Lester and Arche Klein, who must confront the mysterious and dreadful sorcerer named Dhaos, who’s motives are kept secret until the very end of the game to the player. The playable characters of this story are Cless Alvein, Chester Barklight, Mint Adenade, Klarth F. This game features an open world that allows the player to complete various main and side quests in the order of their choosing for the most part. Battles are fought on a 2D screen that scrolls both left and right, similar to that of most fighting games such as Street Fighter. Tales of Phantasia is a role playing game for the Super Nintendo that combines random encounters with real time battles using something called the Linear Motion Battle System (LMBS).
